What We Do
We advance social infrastructure in small communities. “Social Infrastructure” are the spaces where communities come together. Community centers, health clinics, libraries, and food co-ops are all examples of social infrastructure; they contribute to the resilience of communities by facilitating stronger social connections, convening space for celebration, and offering shelter in times of need. We believe that small communities, particularly those that are rural, Indigenous, and remote, can benefit greatly by having purpose-built, culturally and contextually-specific, social infrastructure.
Our Values
Reciprocity
We’re in this together and we both have to show up ready to work.
Common Ground
We search for commonalities and strive to work across the differences that divide us.
Honesty
We’re realistic about possibilities and what it will take for your project to be successful.
Stick-to-it-ness
We’re in it for the long-haul, we build trust and accompany our partners long term.
Mud on boots
We show up, working alongside you and your community even through difficult times.
Rural Infrastructure Accelerator
We facilitate an accelerator – a unique series of integrated curriculum, seminars, and workshops – to build the capacity of leaders and residents of small communities, developing their projects and preparing them for success in eventual development, design, construction, and operation.
Coaching
We provide one-on-one advising with community leaders, developing communication, leadership, management, and other critical skills to advance their projects.
Technical Assistance
We draw on the expertise and experience of our team, our advisors, and our community of practice to simplify the complicated aspects of project planning, development, design, construction, and operation. Our curriculum draws on both proven approaches to effective project management as well as innovations in community engagement, investment, design, and entrepreneurship.
Accompaniment
We recognize that projects in rural, Indigenous, and remote communities can take a long time so we’re in it for the long-haul, ready to accompany community leaders from start to finish.
